EXHIBITION METHODS OF VIDEO ART IN THE CONTEXT OF PRODUCTION REFERENCES

Abstract

Video art, which has opportunities for experimental freedom, also inherently presents the challenges with respect to the mode of representation as the fact that video art is in constant interaction with other kinds of art only means that it cannot be independent. The means of representation for painting is canvass, for sculpture any kind of material that has plasticity, for photography any surface that can be printed on and for cinema it is the silver screen. However, the means of representation for video art cannot be restricted to TV, also known as the black box. Even though effective indoors and outdoors techniques of exhibition are known and applied in other kinds of art, this is not the case for video art, for which little is known regarding the method of exhibition appropriate to the work, which demonstrates the need to look into this situation. With this in mind, the current study examines the exhibition display methods of videos in different exhibitions.

Özet

Deneysel bir özgürlük alanı sunan video sanatı, temsil bağlamında sergileme problemini bünyesinde barındırmaktadır. Çünkü video sanatının, diğer sanat alanlarıyla etkileşim içerisinde olması, aslında salt olarak, bağımsız olamayacağı anlamına gelmektedir. Resmin temsil nesnesi tuval, heykelin temsil nesnesi şekil verilebilen her tür materyal, fotoğrafın temsil nesnesi basılabilir her türlü düz alan, sinemanın temsil nesnesi ise karanlık oda bağlamında beyaz perdedir. Hem içeriğini oluşturduğu özü itibariyle hem de anlatım biçimlerinde kullandığı materyaller itibariyle temsil nesnesini diğer sanat dalları üzerinden oluşturması, video sanatı ile temsil nesnesi arasında, diğer sanat dallarındaki gibi bütünleşik bir ilişkiye sahip olamayacağı anlamına gelmektedir. Bu yüzden video eserinin sergilenmesinde, eserin konusuna uygun bir yöntem belirlemek gerekmektedir. Diğer sanat disiplinlerinin mekan içi/mekan dışı başarılı sergileme yöntemlerinin bilinmesine ve uygulanabilmesine rağmen video sanatında esere uygun sergileme yönteminin bilinmemesi, bu konuda çalışma yapılması ihtiyacını doğurmuştur. Araştırmada farklı sergilerde yer alan video çalışmalarının sergileme yöntemleri incelenmiş ve çözüm önerileri belirlenmiştir.
