Abstract
Megarian Bowls, one of the main forms of the vessel arts of the Hellenistic period, are hemispherical, without a handle and footless drinking vessels. Megarian Bowls that are made by mould have relief ornamentations only on the outer surfaces. These bowls undertake the functions ofkantharoifrom the late 3rd century B.C. to the middle of the 1st century B.C. The name of Megarian Bowls were given by 0. Bendorf mistakenly, as if they were made in Megara. The discussions of where the bowls are first appeared, focused on Egypt, where first metal works are seen. Though first samples are seen in Egypt, this doesn't mean the bowls are originated from here. Some of the bowls that are found in Egypt belong to the Delian group. It was agreed that the production of the bowls did not take place in Delos, which is Ûıe export harbour of the Western Anatolian production. A group of mould that belongs to the Delian Bowls was found in Ephesus excavations, and it was proved that some of the Delian Bowls are made in Ephesus. In display of the Anatolian Civilization Museum are seven bowls that are brought from separate centers. These bowls, in general, have similar characteristics with Ephesus - Ion and Pergamon Bowls and are dated back to the second half of the 2nd century B.C.
Özet
Hellenistik Devir çömlek sanatının ana formlarından biri olan Megara kâseleri yarım küre biçimli, kulpsuz ve ayaksız içki kaplarıdır. Kalıpla yapılan bu kâselerin sadece dış yüzlerinde kabartma bezeme bulunur. Genel itibariyle I.Ö. geç 3. yüzyıldan l.Ö. 1. yüzyılın ortalarına kadar kantharos'lann işlevini üstlenmişlerdir.
