A group of Lydian ceramics from Daskyleion and observations on the relationship of the settlement to Lydia

Abstract
The Lydian ceramics found in the excavations in Daskyleion between 1988-2002 were studied in great detail by G. Gürtekin-Demir. An original group of materials which were found during the excavations in Daskyleion mostly after 2002 are introduced in this study: Furthermore, the current article investigates into a number of aspects of the cultural, political and commercial contacts of Lydia with Ionia and Daskyleion together with its vicinity during 7th and 6th century B.C. in order to present readers with observations on the'importance and place of Daskyleion in this network of relations.

1988-2002 yılları arasında Daskyleion kazılarında ele geçmiş Lydia seramikleri G. Gürtekin-Demir tarafından ayrıntılı olarak değerlendirilmiştir.1 Bu çalışmada ise, çoğunluğunu 2002 yılı sonrası Daskyleion kazı buluntularının oluşturduğu, Lydia seramik repertuarının yeni ve nadir örneklerini temsil eden bir grup orjinal malzeme tanıtılmıştır. Ayrıca, Lydia devletinin M.Ö. 7. ve 6. yüzyıllarda Ionia ve Propontis ile kurmuş olduğu kültürel, politik ve ticari temaslar da ele alınarak, Daskyleion'un bu ilişkiler ağı içindeki yeri ve önemi üzerine yeni gözlemler sunulmuştur.
