A GROUP OF TERRACOTTA FIGURINES FROM CYZICUS

Abstract

This essay includes the surface survey and boring outcomes obtained during the recent excavations carried out in the area near the antique harbour known as Thrakikos Harbour in the town of Cyzicus, the most important and popular city in the Mysia region. All the samples examined are pieces of baked terracotta figures. Precise judgement and evaluation was avoided because the figures were incomplete. Even though the examined samples do not show the baked clay figure production of the town properly, they nevertheless are important in presenting the type, variety and some features of the created in the town.

Bu makale, Mysia Bölgesinin en önemli ve popüler kentlerinden biri olan Kyzikosda son dönem kazı çalışmaları sırasında Thrakikos Limanı olarak bilinen antik limanın yakınındaki alanda yapılan yüzey araştırmalarından ve sondaj kazısından elde edilen buluntuları inceleyen bir çalışmadır. ncelenen örneklerin tamamı piş- miş toprak figürinlere ait parçalardan oluşmaktadır. Eserlerin tam olmaması nedeniyle değerlendirmelerde kesin yargılardan ve sonuçlardan kaçınılmıştır. Ele alınıp incelenen örnekler kentin pişmiş toprak figürin üretimini tam anlamıyla yansıtmasa da, sonuçta kentte üretilen pişmiş toprak figürin örneklerinin özelliklerini, tiplerini ve çeşitliliğini ortaya koyması açısından önemlidir.
