[EXCAVATIONS IN BAYRAKLI MOUND IN 2015: A PRELIMINARY REPORT ON CIVIL ARCHITECTURE IN 4TH AND 5TH CENTURIES B.C.]

Abstract
The last period's excavations started in 2014 in Old Smyrna ancient city. One of the projects going on with in the scope of new period's work is the examination of thecity in the 5th and 4th Centuries B.C. This work with in the project which includes the examination of the architecture in 5th and 4th Centuries B.C. as the latest settlement phase in the city and new studies about this period started in 2015. In the first place the architecture belonging to this period which is unearthed during the excavations held between 1948-1951 and 1968-1980 is aimed to examine. Current buildings are reviewed and plans in the publications and the building in the field are compared. As the result of the work, the construction date of structures and -if there is- phases of the settlements are acknowledged. In the light of the data gathered from these researches, work will be conducted in new excavation areas of the period.
Özet
Eski Smyrna (Bayraklı) antik kenti son dönem kazı çalışmalarına 2014 yılında başlanmıştır. Bu yeni dönem çalışmaları kapsamında başlayan projelerden bir tanesi, kentin M.Ö. 5. ve 4. yüzyıl dönemlerinin incelenmesidir. Kentin en geç yerleşim dönemini içeren M.Ö. 5. ve 4. yüzyıl mimarisinin incelenmesi ve bu döneme ait yeni çalışmaların gerçekleştirilmesini içeren proje kapsamında 2015 yılında çalışmalara başlanmıştır. Öncelikle 1948-1951 ve 1968-1980 yılları arasında kazılmış olan alanlarda bulunan bu dönem mimarisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Mevcut yapıların durumu gözden geçirilmiş, yayınlardaki planlar ve arazideki yapılar yeniden karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışmalar sonucunda yapıların inşa dönemleri ve varsa yerleşim evreleri ile ilgili birtakım sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmalardan elde edilen bilgiler doğrultusunda kentin aynı dönemine ait yeni kazı alanlarında çalışmalar gerçekleştirilecektir.
