Abstract

The subject of this study form 33 piece terracotta unguentaria belonging to Giresun Museum. These artifacts were gained the Giresun Museum through by transfer and purchasing. Unguentaria were used different aim in daily life and as gift of temples and gift of grave. In general, unguentaria which are called fusiform and bulbous forms are recognized in the literature as two diffirent tipe. In our study which take part in these two form consist of artifacts involved the Hellenistic and Roman period. These unguentaria which were registered in Giresun Museum were made general description and typological development and evaluation as chronological.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın konusunu Giresun Müzesine ait 33 adet pişmiş toprak unguentarium oluşturmaktadır. Bu eserler Giresun Müzesine devren ve satın alma yoluyla kazandırılmıştır. Unguentariumlar günlük yaşamda, tapınaklara sunu ve mezar hediyesi olarak farklı amaçlarda kullanılmışlardır. Genel olarak unguentariumlar literatürde fusiform ve bulbous formları olmak üzere iki ayrı tipte tanınmaktadırlar. Çalışmamızda bu iki formun da yer aldığı Helenistik ve Roma dönemini kapsayan eserlerden oluşmaktadır. Giresun Müzesinde kayıtlı olan bu unguentariumların genel tanımlaması, tipolojik gelişimi ve kronolojik olarak değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır.
