The prevalence of some metacestodes ( Hydatid cyst, Cysticerucus tenuicollis, Cysticercus bovis) in sheep, goat and cattle in slaughtered Ankara province

Abstract
Between October 1995 and June 1997, 2484 sheep, 311 goat and 1941 cattle slaughtered at three abattoirs in Ankara province were examined for metacestodes {Hydatid cyst, Cysticercus tenuicollis, Cysticercus bovis). The organ distribution of metacestodes was recorded, and the diagnosis of these was determined from cyst morphology. The general distribution of metacestode infection was found to be 33:9, 29.5, and 9.8% in sheep, goat and cattle, respectively. Among these, C.tenuicollis was recorded the most prevalent species, followed by Hydatid cyst and C.bovis. The prevalence of C.tenuicollis was 26.7% and that of Hydatid cyst 5.9% in sheep. Both were found to be 1.2% of the same animals. The prevalences of C.bovis and Hydatid cyst were 0.3 and 9.4% respectively in cattle. Both species were encountered in 0.1% in the same animals. Although mixed infections were seen in both sheep and cattle, this situation was not observed in goats. Cysticercus tenuicollis and Hydatid cyst were found to be 27.9 and 1.6% in goats, respectively. According to the organ distribution of metacestodes, the maximum intensity of C.tenuicollis was observed in mesentery and omentum. Hydatid cysts were found mostly in liver and lungs. Cysticercus bovis was found mostly in heart and skeletal muscles.

Ekim 1995-Haziran 1997 .tarihleri arasında Ankara yöresi mezbahalarında (Çubuk, Kazan, Akyurt) kesilen 2484 koyun, 311 keçi, 1941 sığır; Hidatid kist, Cysticercus tenuicollis ve Cysticercus bovis yönünden incelenmiştir. Bu metasestodların yerleşim yerleri kaydedilmiş ve teşhisleri kist yapılarına göre yapılmıştır. Metasestod enfeksiyonlarının genel yayılışı koyunlarda %33.9, keçilerde %29.5, sığırlarda %9.8 saptanmıştır. Bunlardan en yaygını C.tenuicollis olmuş, bunu Hidatid kist ve C.bovis izlemiştir. Koyunlarda tek türle enfeksiyondan C.tenuicollis %26.7, Hidatid kist %5.9, her ikisinden oluşan mikst enfeksiyonlar %1.2 kaydedilmiştir. Keçilerde ise mikst enfeksiyonlar gözlenmemiş, C.tenuicollis %27.9, Hidatid kist %1.6 saptanmıştır. Sığırlarda yalnız Hidatid kist %9.4, C. bovis %0.3, bunlardan oluşan mikst enfeksiyonlar %0.1 bulunmuştur. Metasestodlarm yerleşim yerlerine göre,C.tenuicollis en çok mezenter ve omentumda, Hydatid kist karaciğer ve akciğerde, C. bovis kalp ve iskelet kasında kaydedilmiştir.
