Diagnosis and treatment of generalized infections of Trichophyton verrucosum in horses

Abstract
The .study was performed on 16 army horses (between 1 to 7 years old, different sex and breed) which were presented to the Army Animal Hospital with ringworm-like appearence lesions- Trichophyton verrucosum infection in horses was diagnosed with clinical, microbiological and. histopathological methods. T. verrucosum was isolated and. identified from all horses. An agricultural, antifungal preparation Çaptan® were tested for its efficacy in treating T. Ver-rucosum infection. After washing horse with a %3 Çaptan® a new hair 'growth resumed within 4th week. Its usefullness was not limited in treating large number horses, provide useful information as to future measures of control.In conclusion, treatment of ringworm cases in horses with %3 Çaptan® solution was practical and cost effective.
Özet
Çalışma, Askeri Hayvan Hastanesine gelen, klinik olarak "ringworm" bulguları gösteren l- 17 yas arasında, farklı ırk ve cinsiyetteki 16 alta gerçekleştirildi. Atlarda Trichophyton. verrucosum infeksiyonunun varlığı klinik, mikrobiyolojik ve histopatolojik olarak incelendi. Tüm atlardan T. verrucosum izole ve identifiye edildi. Hastalığın tedavisinde antifungal bir tarım ilacı olan Çaptan® 'in kullanımı denendi, ve tedavideki etki süresi gözlendi. Atların Çaptan® (%3'lük) solüsyonu ile yıkanmasından sonra yeni kılların çıkısı ilk 4 hafta içinde gözlendi, ilacın kullanılırlığı sadece çok sayıda atın tedavi edilmesi ile sınırlı olmayıp hastalığın kontrolünün sağlanmasında da yardımcı oldu.Sonuç olarak atların T. Verrucosum infeksiyonlannda çalışmada kullanılan Çaptan® solüsyonun etkili, pratik ve ucuz olduğu ortaya konuldu.
