Rise of Extreme Right Party in Sweden Within The Context Of Migrant Policies

Abstract

Sweden is the country with the highest number of migrants and asylum seekers in Europe with compareto population. In this context, the fact that integration policies for non-European low-skilled or unqualifiedmigrants and asylum-seekers in Sweden, whose numbers had strikingly increased after 1970s and could not beeffectively planned and implemented, turned into the main argument for the election propagandas of all parties.Thus, when leveler and moderate policies implemented by the Social Democrat Party towards migrants andasylum seekers had encountered with the recent anti-immigration approaches in Europe, this occurence causedboth the Party’s losing its votes gradually and evoking the political strengthening of extreme-right-rooted, anti migrant and racist Sweden Democrats Party. Extreme-right Sweden Democrats Party, which entered into theParliament for the very first time after 2010 general elections and established its whole politics on anti-migrantdiscourse, had become the Sweden’s 3rd preferred-party in the September 2018 general elections and thus,came up as being one of the most significant partners of the possible future coalition. This research addressesthe rise of extreme right Sweden Democrats Party which has built its politics and discourses over the anti migrant issue in the context of migration problems in Sweden.

İsveç, kendi nüfusuna göre Avrupa’nın en fazla göçmen ve sığınmacı kabul eden ülkelerinden birisidir.Bu bağlamda, İsveç’te 1970’ler sonrası sayıları dikkat çekici boyutta artan göçmen ve sığınmacılara yönelik entegrasyon politikalarının etkinlikle planlanıp uygulanamaması, hemen tüm partilerin seçim propagandalarının temel argümanı olmuştur. Nitekim, Sosyal Demokrat Parti’nin göçmen ve sığınmacılar için ortaya koyduğu eşitlikçi ve ılımlı politikalar ile Avrupa’da yükselen göçmen karşıtlığı, bir yandan aşamalı olarak partinin oy kaybetmesine neden olurken, öte yandan aşırı sağ tabanlı ve göçmen karşıtı İsveç Demokratları Partisi’nin siyaseten güçlenmesine yol açmıştır. Öyle ki, ilk olarak 2010 genel seçimlerinden sonra parlamentoya girmiş ve hemen tüm söylemini göçmen karşıtlığı üzerine oturtmuş aşırı sağcı İsveç Demokratları Partisi, Eylül 2018’de yapılan genel seçimlerde İsveç’in en büyük üçüncü partisi olmuş ve böylece kurulacak koalisyonun önemli ortaklarından biri haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışma, İsveç’te göçmen politikaları bağlamında, politikalarını ve söylemlerini göçmen karşıtlığı üzerine inşa etmiş aşırı sağcı İsveç Demokratları Partisi’nin siyasal yükselişini konu edinmekedir.
