Abstract
Lipoma that is painless, slow-growing, encapsulated and benign tumor of fatty tis¬sue is rare in oral cavity. The range of reported incidence on the intraoral lipomas changes from 1 percent to 44 percent of all benign oral soft-tissue tumors. Al¬though trauma is considered to be etiologic factor in lipomas occuring in other parts of body, the etiology of the intraoral lipomas are unknown. Lipomas are asymptomatic in most cases. In this article, a case of lipoma in the buccal sulcus in a 59-years-old woman causing facial asymmetry and ill-fitness of lower denture is presented. After surgi¬cal excision of the lipoma, the symptoms disappeared. Since July-1992, no recur¬rence has been noted!
