Abstract
In this study, antibacterial activity of Ketac-Endo which is a new root canal sealer, was observed. S. mitis, S. mutans, N. mucosa, C. albicans were the test materials. Those microorganisms were opened under sterile conditions. S. mitis and S. mutans were inoculated in blood agar plates, N. mucosa was inoculated in blood and cholocate agar plates, C. albicans was inoculated in Saboroud dextrose agar plate. After incubation at 37°C for 1 day, suspensions were prepared due to Me Farland test standart. The disc diffusion method was modified for the antibacterial effect. After preparing Miiller-Hinton agar plates, standart holes with 6 mm diameter were used in inoculation. In the control group, sterile distilled water was used. Inoculated plates were incubated under aerobic conditions for 24,48 and 72 hours and the inhibition zones were measured milimetrically. Although the antibacterial effect of Ketac-Endo has not changed during the incubation period, in N. mucosa test material a small increase in inhibition zone after 72 hours has been found.
