Abstract
The tilted posterior molar presents a formidable restorative problem for the dentist. In this study a photoelastic model was constructed to represent a man¬dible with missing first molar contained a second premolar and a mesially tilt¬ed second molar as abutments. The periradicular stresses created by load ap¬plication directed through a tilted molar abutment using four fixed partial denture designs and an unrestored were compared. The greatest stress was recorded at the apex of the mesial root of the tilted molar of the unrestored specimen and the bridge design with a mesial half crown. The most favorable stress distribution was observed in the non-rigid connector when the connector was practiced on the distal surface of the premolar retain¬er.
