Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the postoperative pain after clinical application of % 5 NaOCl and 0.2 % chlorhexidine gluconate. The study involved 70 patients with single rooted teeth re¬quiring single visit endodontic treatment. 35 of the teeth were irrigated with 5 % NaOCl, and the other 35 teeth were irrigated with 0.2 % chlorhexidine gluconate during preparation. Patients were recalled at 24, 48 and 72 hours after treatment and their intraoral examinations were done and postoperative pain complaints were recorded. The results were evaluated statistically. While there was a statistically sdifference between the groups from the point of postoperative pain after the 24 hours period, there was no significant difference after the 48 and 72 hours periods be-twenn the groups.
