The effect of different finishing and polishing techniques on composite resin surface roughness: An invitro study

Abstract

Purpose: In vitro investigation of surface roughness in different finishing and polishing techniques on composite resin. Material and Methods: In our study, there were 20 sample cavities divided into 4 groups, prepared to show surface roughness with the profilometric analyzer and SEM photographs. Results: In all the groups surface roughness mean was found statistically significant different (p< 0.01) on the SEM photographs the profilometric analyzer results were relevant with the surface roughness means. Conclusion: Finally, the surfaces polished with discs were found to be smoother than surfaces polished with rubber cups.

Özet

Amaç: Kompozit rezinlerde farklı bitirme ve cila tekniklerinin yüzey pürüzlülüğüne etkisinin in vitro incelenmesi Materyal ve Metod: Çalışmamızda kompozit rezinlerin farklı bitirme ve cila tekniklerindeki yüzey pürüzlülüğünü incelemek amacıyla 20 adet örnek hazırlanmış ve 4 gruba ayrılmıştır. Örneklerin yüzey pürüzlülükleri profilmetre cihazı ile değerlendirilmiş ve SEM'de görüntülenmiştir. Bulgular: Tüm gruplara ait yüzey pürüzlülük değerleri arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur. (p< 0.01) Alınan SEM görüntüleri de profilometre ile değerlendirilen yüzey pürüzlülükleriyle uyum göstermektedir. Sonuç: Sonuç olarak disklerle cila yapılan yüzeylerin lastik möletlerle cila yapılan yüzeylere nazaran daha düzenli olduğu saptanmıştır.
