Evaluation of bond strength and microleakage between amalgam and composite resin in combined amalgam-composite restorations

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a dental adhesive (Scotchbond Multi Purpose Plus) on the bond strength of amalgam and composite combined restorations and evaluate microleakage between two restorative materials. The specimens were subjected to three-point bending measurements of flexural strength. The results showed that the use of Scotchbond M-P Plus increased the bond strengths of the specimens prepared with amalgam and composite (p < 0.05). According to the results of microleakage evaluation, it was viewed that there was statistically less microleakage between amalgam and composite (p < 0.05).
Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, bir dentin bağlayıcı ajan olan Scotchbond M-P Plus'ın amalgam ile kompozitin birlikte kullanımı ile oluşturulan kombine restorasyonların bağlanma direnci ve materyaller arasında oluşan sızıntı üzerine etkisini ortaya koymaktır. Bağlanma direncinin ortaya konması amacıyla hazırlanan örneklere üç noktada eğilme testi uygulanmış ve Scotchbond M-P Plus' ın amalgam ve kompozit ile birlikte kullanımının bağlanma direncini arttırdığı saptanmıştır (p < 0.05). Yapılan sızıntı testinde de Scotchbond M-P Plus'ın amalgam ile kompozit arasında oluşan sızıntıyı azalttığı gözlenmiştir (p < 0.05).
