In-vitro comparison of staining properties of esthetic materials in different composition

Abstract

A large number of dental materials are now being marketed specifically for prosthetic restorations. The solution of esthetic problems in prosthetic dentistry depends on this new materials. The esthetic problems mostly seen in veneer crown and bridge restorations are color stability. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the color stability of selected esthetic materials in different composition 35 disks of each material, with a diameter of 10mm and a thickness of 1,5 mm and immersed coffee, tea, cola, juice and distilled water. After this procedures, specimens was measured by spectrocolorimeter and the results were evaluated by CIE-LAB system. Within the limitations of this study; coffee and tea stains more than cola and cherry juice, in spite of generally, Acetal D samples showed more discoloration than Artglass samples.

Özet

Protetik restorasyonlar için pek çok sayıda dental materyal piyasaya sürülmektedir. Bu yeni materyaller ile protetik diş hekimliğinde estetik problemler çözülmeye çalışılmaktadır. En sık rastlanan estetik sorun, kron ve köprü restorasyonlarında görülen renk stabilitesinin sağlanmasıdır. Çalışmanın amacı, farklı yapıda seçilen estetik materyallerin renk stabilitesinin değerlendirilmesidir. Bu amaçla her materyal için 10 mm çapında, 1,5 mm kalınlığında disk şeklinde her bir test solüsyonu için 7 şer adet olmak üzere toplam 35 örnek hazırlanarak kahve, çay, kola, meyve suyu ile distile su içinde bekletildi. Bu işlemlerden sonra, örnekler spektrokolorimetri cihazında ölçülerek sonuçlar CIE-LAB sistemine uygun olarak değerlendirildi. Değerlendirmeler sonunda kahve ve çayın, kola ve meyve suyuna oranla daha fazla boyanmaya neden olduğu, estetik materyal olarak, Acetal D örneklerinin, Artglass örneklerden daha fazla boyandığı görülmüştür.
