Treatment of angle class II division 2 malocclusion with Begg fixed appliance therapy

Abstract

The aim of this case report is to evaluate the treatment results and stability after 1-year retention of two patients having Angle Cl II, 2 malocclusion treated with Begg fixed appliance mechanics. First case had Cl II molar relationship, 7.5mm. overbite, severe maxillary and mandibular crowding. The second case had CI II molar relationship, 7mm. overbite, severe maxillary and minimal mandibular crowding. The upper first premolars were extracted in both of the cases and in the first stage of the treatment mandibular removable appliances having anterior bite planes and posterior hooks were used in order to open the bite and apply Cl II elastics. The treatment duration is 26 and 25 months consecutively. In both of the cases maxilla and mandible were displaced slightly downwards, and the protrusion, palatinal root tork and intrusion of the upper incisors and protrusion of the lower incisors corrected the overbite and overjet. Soft tissue profiles were slightly improved. It is observed that the results are stable after the 1-year retention period.

Özet

Bu vaka raporunun amacı, Begg sabit tedavi tekniği ile tedavi edilen Angle sınıf II, 2 malokluzyona sahip iki vakanın tedavi sonuçlarının ve 1 yıllık pekiştirme tedavisi sonundaki durumun değerlendirilmesidir. Birinci vakada, sınıf II molar ilişki, 7.5 mm. overbite, alt ve üst çenede şiddetli yer darlığı mevcuttu. İkinci vaka ise sınıf II molar ilişkiye, 7mm. overbite a, maksillada şiddetli, mandibulada hafif yer darlığına sahipti. Her iki vakada da maksiller birinci premolarlar çekilmiştir ve tedavinin ilk safhasında kapanışın açılması ve sınıf II elastik uygulanması amacıyla mandibulada anterior okluzyon yükselticin ve posteriorda kancalar içeren hareketli plak kullanılmıştır. Tedavi süresi birinci vakada 26 ikinci vakada 25 aydır. Tedavi sonunda her iki vakada da maksilla ve mandibula da hafif derecede aşağı doğru yer değiştirme meydana gelmiş, overbite ve overjet üst keserlerdeki protrüzyon, palatinal kök torku ve intrüzyonu ile alt keserlerdeki protrüzyon ile düzeltilmiştir. Yumuşak doku profilinde az miktarda düzelme elde edilmiştir. 1 yıllık pekiştirme tedavisi sonunda sonuçların stabil olduğu gözlenmiştir.
