Investigation of the mandibuler rotation in Class I malocclusion treated with fixed appliance therapy

Abstract
In our study, we aimed to evaluate the effects of fixed appliance therapy on the mandibular rotation pattern of individuals who had skeletal and dental Class l malocclusion, average normal overjet-overbite relationships and growth pattern, and treated with either Begg or Edgewise techniques by means of four first premolar extraction. The sample consisted of Begg (13 girls, 7 boys), and Edgewise treatment group (10 girls, 10 boys) and control group (10 girls, 10 boys) having the same characteristics with treatment groups. Skeletal and dentoalveoler changes were assessed by using structural superimposition technique. Also, horizontal reference plane drawn parallel from Sella to Downs occlusal plane, and vertical reference plane drawn perpendicular from Sella to Downs occlusal were used for measuring these changes. Bu çalışma, iskeletsel ve dental Sınıf l yapıya, normal overjet-overbite ilişkisine ve normal büyüme gelişim modeline sahip Begg ya da Edgewise mekaniği ile 4 premolar çekimli olarak tedavi edilmiş vakalarda, ortodontik tedavinin mandibuler rotasyon modeline etkilerini değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmada tedavi grupları ile aynı özelliklere sahip 20 birey Kontrol grubunu (10 kız, 10 erkek), 20 birey Begg tedavi grubunu (13 kız, 7 erkek) ve 20 birey Edgewise tedavi grubunu (10 kız, 10 erkek) oluşturmuştur. Büyüme-gelişim ve ortodontik tedavinin iskeletsel ve dentoalveoler yapılara etkileri "Yapısal Çakıştırma Yöntemi" ile değerlendirilmiştir. Referans düzlemi olarak Downs okluzal düzlemine Sella noktasından paralel çizilerek oluşturulan düzlem (Horizontal Referans Düzlemi) ve bu düzleme Sella noktasından dik inilerek oluşturulan düzlem (Vertikal Referans Düzlemi) kullanılmıştır.
