Abstract
Surgical management is intended to eliminate or block infection originating in the root canals. Although diffuculties arise in laying out defined criteria for the precision of periradicular surgery in case pain, swelling enlarging periradicular pathology and tenderness in percussion, surgery reveals to be a logical way of treatment. The purpose of this retrospective study is to make an analysis and evaluation about the factors influencing the results as well as the outcomes of periapicale surgery. The results of this study revealed that the main reason for attendance was tenderness and pain. Defects have been observed commonly in the upper jaw. Periradicular surgery+root filling has been the prefered way of surgical treatment. Recurrence rate was higher in cases where periapicale surgery + retrograde filling has been performed. The main reason for recurrence revealed to be unsuccessful! root filling. According to this study surgical management is an alternative way of eliminating periradicular pathology in case conventional endodontical treatment is not successful and has no indication.
