Staining effect of cavity disinfectants on dentin

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the staining effects ofcavity disinfectants on denlin and to evaluate the possible effects on the shade of resin composite restoration. The disinfectants used in this study were benzalkonium chloride based Tubulicid red and Tubulicidplus, iodine-potassium iodide and copper sulphate containing Ora-5, chlorhexidine gluconate based Consepsis and Savlex, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). Distilled water was used as a control. After the labial surfaces of the bovine incisors vere flattened to expose the dentin and were divided into eight groups of ten each. Color measurements of each specimen were made before and after disinfectant application using spectrophotometer, and then color change (AE) was calculated. in the second part of the study, in groups which color changes were perceptible resin composite discs were placed on the dentin surface prior to and after disinfectant application. Bu çalışmanın amacı farklı kavite dezenfektanlarının dentin üzerindeki renklendirici etkisini karşılaştırmalı olarak incelemek ve olası renklenmenin kompozit restorasyonun rengine olan etkisi-ni değerlendirmektir. Çalışmada kullanılan dezenfektanlar, benzalkonyum klorit esaslı Tubulicid red ve Tubulicid plus, iyot-potasyum iyodür ve bakır sülfat içeren Ora 5, klorheksidin glukonat esaslı Consepsis ve Savlex, oksijenli su (H2O2) ve sodyum hipoklorit (NaOCl)'tir. Distile su kontrol olarak kullanılmıştır. Dana keser dişlerinin koronal kısımlarının labial yüzeyleri dentini açığa çıkacak şekilde düzleştirildikten sonra, onarlı sekiz gruba ayrılmıştır. Herbir örnek için dezenfektan uygulamadan önce ve sonra spektrofotometre kullanılarak renk tespiti yapılmıştır ve ortaya çıkan renk değişimi (AE) hesaplanmıştır.
