Abstract
Upon the proclamation of Ankara as the capital of newly founded Republic of Turkey, the town underwent through a rapid populationgrowth which in turn was accompanied by a rapid structuring, from housing to transportation in the communal area. In this period, WorldWar II that deeply afected the economies and relationships of all the countries, had broken out. Although Turkey kept out of the war, sheexperienced economic and social hardships in many areas. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efects of war on Ankara s urbanand rural transport sector. Data showing the extent of utilization in this sector also point out to the people s level of income and their wayof living. In addition to exposing the transportation data in Ankara during the years of World War II, this study shall also shed light on theefects of the war in other cities.
Özet
Ankaranın başkent ilan edilmesiyle birlikte hızlı bir nüfus artışı yaşanmış ve bu artış beraberinde mimariden ulaşıma toplumsal alandahızlı bir yapılanmayı getirmiştir. Bu dönemde tüm ülkelerin ekonomilerini ve ilişkilerini de derinden etkileyen II. Dünya Savaşı patlakvermiş, Türkiye savaşa girmesede pekçok alanda ekonomik ve sosyal sıkıntılar yaşamıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, savaşın Ankaranınşehir içi ve şehirler arası ulaştırma sektörüne etkilerini araştırmaktır. Ulaştırma sektörünün ne kadar kullanıldığını gösteren veriler,halkın gelir düzeyi ile beraber yaşam şeklini de ortaya koymaktadır. II. Dünya savaşı yıllarında Ankaradaki ulaşım verilerini kapsayanbu çalışma, savaşın diğer şehirlerdeki etkilerine de ışık tutacaktır.
