The Category of “Lover” in Cizirî’s Dîwan

Abstract

Considering love as a burning state, no doubt that it will be best expressed by those of who have been burned to ashes within the fire of it. It is possible to find brief definitions of these people, namely the lovers, in the dictionaries. However, attempts to read them in their authentic language show us that the state of love is too profound and multidimensional to be expressed within a few sentences. It seems that rather than suggesting an exclusive definition of the “lover”, gathering the parts which explain the different aspects, characteristics, experiences, desires and purposes of the concept within lovers’ particular language at length and trying to understand the term over the whole of these parts is more appropriate. In this study, the approach to love, of the Kurdish poet Sheik Ahmed-i Cizîrî, or colloquially MelayêCizîrî, who lived between the second half of the 16th century and in the beginning of the 17th century, is analyzed in the frame of his own descriptions.

Eğeraşk yakıcı bir hal ise, şüphesiz bu hali en iyi tarif edecek olanlar da buhalin ateşinde yanıp kül olanlardır. Bu halin ateşinde kül olanları yaniâşıkları sözlüklerde birkaç cümlelik tarifler çerçevesinde okumak mümkündür.Fakat onların kendi dilinden kendilerini anlamaya çalışmak, bize âşık olmadurumunun birkaç cümle ile tarif edilemeyecek kadar derin ve çok boyutluolduğunu göstermektedir. Âşığın tanımı için genel bir tanım cümlesinden ziyadeâşığın kendi dilinden farklı yönlerini, özelliklerini, yaşadıklarını,arzularını ve amaçlarını ayrıntılı bir biçimde anlatan sözlerini bir arayatoplayıp bu söylediklerinin tümü üzerinden âşığı tanımaya çalışmak daha doğrugörünmektedir. Bu çalışmada 16. yüzyılın son yarısıyla 17. yüzyılın ilkyarısında yaşamış olan ünlü Kürt mutasavvıf şairi Şeyh Ahmed-i Cezerî veya halkarasında bilinen adıyla Melayê Cizîrî’nin Dîvânı’nda âşık tipinin nasıl elealındığı, onun kendi tarifleri çerçevesinde incelenecektir.
