The Importance of Benchmarking for Businesses in the Context of Management

Abstract

The period in which the world is in, has made it obligatory to make the change and development continuous. The hardening of the competition conditions led the enterprises to make changes about the management systems. Within the framework of this management approach, enterprises use benchmarking techniques to determine which methods will be more appropriate, efficient and competitive. Thus, enterprises, improvements in the negative areas of management; in positive areas they have the chance to develop. The aim of this study is to examine the comparative process in terms of the importance and the benefits of the benchmarking technique in the context of management; to try to guide businesses in this regard. In the method determined as qualitative study, the concepts of comparison and management were first defined, the purposes and types of benchmarking technique were mentioned, and in the last section, the importance of these techniques in terms of management was emphasized.

Dünyanın içinde bulunduğu dönem, işletmeler için değişimi ve gelişimi sürekli hale getirmeyizorunluluk haline getirmiştir. Rekabet koşullarının sertleşmesi, işletmelerin yönetim sistemlerhakkında değişiklikler yapmalarına yönlendirmiştir. Bu yönetim anlayışı çerçevesinde işletmelerhangi yöntemlerin daha uygun, verimli ve rekabet içerisinde kalmalarını sağlayacaklarınıbelirlemede kıyaslama tekniğine başvurmaktadırlar. Böylece işletmeler, yönetim alanında negatifalanlarda iyileştirmeler; pozitif alanlarda ise geliştirme şansına sahip olmaktadırlar. Bu çalışmanınamacı, yönetim bağlamında kıyaslama tekniğinin işletmeler açısından önemine, yararlarınadeğinilmesinin yanı sıra kıyaslama aşamalarını kavramsal anlamda inceleyerek işletmelere yolgöstermektir. Nitel çalışma olarak belirlenen yöntemde ilk olarak kıyaslama ve yönetim kavramlarıtanımlanmış, kıyaslama tekniğinin amaçlarından ve türlerinden bahsedilmiş ve son bölümde iseyönetim açısından bu tekniklerin önemi üzerinde durulmuştur.
