APPLICATION OF TQM IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY OF DEVELOPING COUNTRIES - CASE OF TURKEY

Abstract

In this study, a questionnaire survey was developed in order to investigate the application of TQM in Turkish constructionindustry and identify the critical success factors, barriers, and benefits of this application. The questionnaire was completed by32 firms. The results of the study revealed that there are short comings in TQM application in Turkish construction industryespecially in relation to top management commitment and leadership; the greatest benefit of TQM to the firms is ‘increasedcustomer satisfaction’.
