The effects of sertraline on anxiety by the plus maze test

Abstract

In this study, the effects of sertraline, that was applied acutely or chronically, on anxiety of mice were investigated by plus maze method. Eight groups of mice, of which weights were ranged between 25-40 g, were formed. A single dose of 5 and 10 mg sertraline was administered intraperitoneally to the first and second groups, respectively. Sertraline was administered intraperitoneally to the third and fourth groups, chronically for seven and 14 days respectively. 2 mg/kg diazepam was administered to the fifth group and serum physiologic was given to the control groups (groups VI, VII, VIII). Bu çalışmada farelerde tek doz ve kronik verilen sertralinin anksiyete üzerine etkileri artı labirent yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır. Ağırlıkları 25-40 g arasında olan beyaz farelerden 8 grup oluşturulmuş, I. ve II. gruplara 5 ve 10 mg/kg dozlarında akut, III. ve IV. gruplara ise sırasıyla 7 ve 14 gün sürelerle 5 mg/kg/gün dozunda kronik sertralin verilmiştir. Beşinci gruba diazepam (2 mg/kg) verilmiştir. Kontrol gruplarına (VI., VII., VIII.) ise serum fizyolojik verilmiştir.
