Abstract
In a 48 years-old male, diffuse angiodysplasias were observed in rectum and rectosigmoid regions (25-30 cm.), following a total colonoscopy due to massive rectal bleeding. Coagulation with heater probe was applied on most of the angiodysplasic lesions and the bleeding stopped. Inferior and superior selective mesenteric angiography and MR angiography were found normal. Recurrent bleeding did not occur. In control colonoscopic examination, it was observed that most of the angiodysplasic lesions disappared. The present case is presented due to the fact that angiodysplasic lesions are rare in rectum and the rectosigmoid regions, and gastrointestinal vascular abnormalities are reviewed.
