Abstract
There has been an alarming increase in the number of cancer patients recently. The psychiatric disorders of cancer patients, while they are in hospital, adversely affect their medical treatment and the period of their treatment as well as the period of their stay in hospital. Therefore, in this study we aimed to make a research into the mental states of lung cancer and leukaemia patients being treated in our hospital. In this study, 24 leukaemia and 29 lung cancer cases are included. To all cases, and a Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and also a sociodemographic survey were applied. According to these, the cases from the countryside, who had a poor socioeconomic background, have dramatically high figures of anxiety and depression. The results of the study have been discussed comparatively with those carried out in Turkey.
Özet
Kanser tanısı alan hasta sayısı her geçen gün artmaktadır.
