Abstract
Kadî al-Baydâwî, one of important Islamic theologians of the sect Ash'ariyya, revealed his views on the subject of husn-kubh in his works of tafsir, kalam and usul-i fiqh. The author, who writes the work in a rather concise and clear manner, has in general declared ideas confirming the approach of the sect. However, some of his explanations, especially in his tafsir, brought with him the comments that he adopted Mu̒tazili ideas in the explanation of some verses. His acceptance that’s the mental of husn and kubh in the sense of maturity and deficiency with compliance and contradiction to human nature, as if it was interpreted as a separation from the thought of Ash’arî, it was not possible for him to think differently from his school in the context of this matter. For there are many Ash’arî theologians who explain in the same way the views he has expressed in this subject. The author, who is defending the idea that the mind will not know the necessity of gratitude to the owner of the blessing, depending on the view that the sharia will determine only the husn and kubh of the act which requires reward or punishment in the hereafter, he brought in sharî and mental proofs in the purport of this idea, in this direction he used a language specifically aimed at rejecting the Mu'tazilian understanding.
