Using intelligent transportation systems and technologies in university campus transportation plan

Abstract

The fact that we live in the age of technology makes it inevitable for us to use constantly renewing scientific developments in transportation planning and solutions. After the increasing human population and migration to cities, the existing transportation infrastructures are no longer sufficient. Although the administrations in the metropolitan areas are trying to find solutions, the unpredictable rapid migration and the lack of settlement plans to meet the needs of the city people turn city life into chaos. While city planning is being done, universities should be made by considering this plan. In our country, the establishment of universities in big cities and their development over time bring population migration to these cities. Since many university campuses have a scattered plan, they can no longer fit into the area they are in and have started to create new campus areas. While planning the campus areas, these valuable areas should be used efficiently. Using smart transportation systems and technologies for intra-campus transportation and transportation between campuses and city centers will both create time efficiency and enable better use of valuable areas. In this study, in the context of the contribution of the campuses to scientific and technological development, it is aimed to create a resource for the applications of smart transportation systems and technologies in the campus transportation plans, which will be discussed in the future by explaining or suggesting the smart transportation technologies that can be applied within the campuses and between the city.

Özet

Teknoloji çağında yaşıyor olmamız her alanda olduğu gibi ulaşım planlanması ve çözümlerinde kendini sürekli yenileyen bilimsel gelişmeleri kullanmamızı kaçınılmaz hale getirmektedir. Artan insan nüfusu ve şehirlere olan göç sonrasında mevcut olan ulaşım alt yapıları artık yetersiz gelmektedir. Büyükşehirlerde yönetimler çözüm üretmeye çalışıyor olsa da ön görülemeyen hızlı göç ve kent insanlarının ihtiyaçları karşılayacak yerleşim planlamaları yapılmaması şehir hayatını karmaşaya dönüştürmektedir. Şehir planlaması yapılırken üniversitelerde bu plan içerisinde düşünülerek yapılmalıdır. Ülkemizde, üniversitelerin büyük şehirlerde kurulması ve zamanla gelişmesi bu şehirlere olan nüfus göçünü de beraberinde getirmektedir. Birçok üniversite yerleşkesi dağınık plana sahip olduğu için artık bulunduğu alana sığamaz hale gelmiş ve yeni yerleşke alanları oluşturmaya başlamıştır. Yerleşke alanlarını planlarken, kıymetli olan bu alanları en verimli şekilde kullanmamız gerekmektedir. Yerleşke içerisinde yapılar arası sirkülasyon ve yerleşkelerin bulundukları kent merkezleri ile olan bağlantılarını akıllı ulaşım sistemleri ve teknolojilerini kullanarak hem zamandan tasarruf hem de maddi olarak değerli olan alanları en iyi şekilde kullanılmasını sağlayacaktır.
