Importance of Pesticides and their Effects on Ecosystem

Abstract

Pesticides can cause toxic effect on natural environment, beneficial insects, fish and other aquatic organisms as well as humans, mammals and birds. Herbicides, insecticides and fungicides are widely used as pesticides around the world. Among these pesticides, organophosphor (OPPs) and s-triazine pesticides are known to impair the function of the endocrine system in humans, which increases the risk of cancer diseases. Therefore, the determination of pesticide concentrations in the environmental ecology has become an important concern. The pesticides that are widely used and their effects on ecosystems are reviewed in this study.

Özet

Pestisitler doğal çevre, yararlı böcekler, balıklar ve diğer sucul organizmalara ek olarak insanlar, memeliler ve kuşlar için toksik etkilere sebep olabilirler. Pestisitler olarak herbisitler, insektisitler ve fungisitler dünyada geniş ölçüde kullanılmaktadır. Bu pestisitler arasında s-triazin grubu ve organofosfor pestisitlerin (OPPs) endokrin sistem fonksiyonunu bozarak kanser riskini arttırdığı bilinmektedir. Bu sebeple çevre ekolojisinde pestisit derişimlerinin tayini önemlidir. Bu derlemede pestisitlerle ilgili bilgiler verilmekte ve pestisit kullanımının ekosisteme etkileri irdelenmektedir.
