Abstract

In this study, the adverbs özetle “briefly”, basitçe “simply”, açıkçası “frankly” and açıkça “obviously” are analyzed using a corpus-based methodology with a functional approach. Besides, sentential (wide scope) and verb-related (narrow scope) adverbs are compared. In the second stage of the analysis, according to the features of the adverbs, the definitions given in the Güncel Türkçe Sözlük are evaluated, and it was discussed that the definition in the dictionary matched with which adverb type. The aim of the study is to provide data on the classification of adverbs in Turkish and to contribute to the literature on their lexical definitions. For this purpose, based on common features for sentential and verb-related adverbs, the adverbs açıkçası “frankly”, basitçe “simply”, and açıkça “obviously” and their definitions in the Güncel Türkçe Sözlük along with examples, (if any) are evaluated in terms of adverb types, and for the adverb özetle “briefly”, the necessity of including the adverb in the dictionary is argued. In the analysis, it was determined that the adverb type defined in the entry and the adverb in the example sentence are different and that a single type is defined according to the features of an adverb in the entry. Based on these findings, as a result of the examination, suggestions are made to make a definition within the framework of the criteria determined by taking into account the type of adverbs accepted as an entry in the Güncel Türkçe Sözlük and to give examples in accordance with the definition.

Özet

Bu çalışmada; özetle, basitçe, açıkçası ve açıkça belirteçleri derlem temelli olarak işlevsel yaklaşımla incelenmiş, tümcesel (geniş açılı) ve eylem öbeğine (dar açılı) yönelik kullanımları karşılaştırılmıştır. İncelemenin ikinci aşamasında, belirteçlerin işlevsel özelliklerine göre Güncel Türkçe Sözlük’te verilen tanımlar değerlendirilmiş ve sözlükte tanımın hangi belirteç tipiyle örtüştüğü tartışılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, Türkçede belirteçlerin sınıflandırılmasına yönelik veri sunmak ve sözlüksel tanımlarına katkı sağlamaktır. Bu amaçla, tümcesel belirteçler ve eyleme yönelik kullanılan belirteçlerin ortak özelliklerinden hareketle Güncel Türkçe Sözlük’te yer alan açıkçası, basitçe, açıkça belirteçlerinin tanımları, varsa örnek kullanımları belirteç türleri açısından değerlendirilmiş, özetle belirtecinin de sözlükte yer almasının gerekliliği nedenleriyle açıklanmıştır. İncelemede, madde başında tanımlanan belirteç türü ile örnek tümcedeki belirtecin farklı olduğu ve bazı madde başlarında belirteç türlerinden tek bir türün özelliklerine göre tanım yapıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgulara dayanarak inceleme sonucunda, Güncel Türkçe Sözlük’te madde başı olarak kabul edilen belirtecin türü dikkate alınarak belirlenen ölçütler çerçevesinde tanım yapılması ve örneklerin de tanıma uygun verilmesi için öneriler sunulmuştur.
