SOCIAL MOVEMENTS AND POLITICAL PARTIES

Abstract

Once it was understood that direct democracy was impossible, democracy became “representative”. And from now on, democracy is fulfilled its task by means of representatives. Due to this reason, the parties that are the most clear indicator of the representation play important roles. However, the social movements that create idea to mobilize „horizontally‟ have become significant because they could easily adopt to the discourses of 20th century that is totally different from 19th century, in which main rhetoric was on economy. As a result of this situation since the domination of parttes was shattered, different models than cadre party and mass party have been emerged especially in the last period of 20th century. This article examines the “relation of representation” and discusses whether there are relations between the social movement (as literature clarifies that the movements were result of Industrial and French Revolutions) and political parties. For this purpose, the method of the paper is to analyze the literature of political parties.

Doğrudan Demokrasi anlayışının imkânsızlığının anlaşıldığı modern dönemlerde demokrasinin başınaeklenen temsili sıfatının anlattığı üzere demokrasi halk yönetimi ilkesini temsilcileri aracılığıyla eldeetmektedir. Söz konusu temsilin en açık göstergelerinden olan partiler de bu anlamda önemli bir işlevgörmektedirler. Kadro ve kitle partileri şeklinde örgütlenme yoluna giden ilk dönem partileri, özellikle20.yy‟ın son çeyreğinde ivme kazanan ve temeli ekonomiye dayanan 19.yy söylemlerinin dışına çıkarakyatay örgütlenme modeline örnek teşkil eden yeni sosyal hareketler ile birlikte farklı modeller almayabaşlamışlardır. Söz konusu temsil ilişkisi üzerine inceleme yapılmak üzere kaleme alınan bu makaleSanayi Devrimi ve Fransız Devrimi ile başlatılan toplumsal hareketler ve siyasal partiler arasındakiilişkiyi irdeleyen bir tartışma yürütmektedir. Bu çerçevede izlenecek olan yöntem siyasal partilerliteratürünün incelenmesi olacaktır.
