Abstract
On a global scale, there are many countries that are involved in the Cyprus problem. Due to the fact that the countries’ opinions and interests are different, the actual situation that has started with the 1974 operation in Cyprus still continues. Given the strategic importance of the region, it is understandable that many countries carry out policies that are appropriate for their own interests. The starting point of this research is about how the society living in the north of the island perceive the problem. Given the fact that there was no previous research about this issue increased the motivation for this research. The aim of this study is to determine how the people of TRNC perceive the Cyprus problem as of 2018 within the current conjuncture. In this study, relational screening method was used. As a result, in terms of "the attitude of the Cyprus problem", pre-1974 residents (Cypriot descent) and those who have migrated to the island after 1974 (Turkey descent) have significant differencesabout the problem.
Özet
Küresel çapta bakıldığında Kıbrıs sorununa taraf olan bir çok ülke bulunmaktadır. Tarafların soruna ilişkindüşünce ve çıkarlarının kesişmemesinin adada 1974 harekatı ile oluşan fiili durumun devam etmesine katkısağladığı düşünülmektedir. Bölgenin stratejik önemine istinaden bir çok ülkenin kendi menfaatlerine uygunpolitikalar yürütmesi anlaşılır bir durumdur. Birden çok tarafı olan bu meselenin adanın kuzeyinde yaşayantoplum tarafından nasıl değerlendirildiği fikri bu araştırmanın çıkış noktası olmuştur. Konuya ilişkin daha öncebir araştırma yapılmamış olması da bu araştırmanın yapılmasına yönelik motivasyonu artırmıştır. Buaraştırmada amaç KKTC halkının mevcut konjönktür içerisinde araştırmanın yapıldığı 2018 yılı itibariyle Kıbrıssorununu nasıl algıladığının belirlenmesidir. İlişkisel tarama metodunun kullanıldığı bu araştırma sonucundaelde edilen bulgular kapsamında nüfusun çoğunluğunu oluşturan 1974 öncesi yerleşikler (Kıbrıs kökenliler) ile1974 sonrası adaya gelenlerin (Türkiye kökenliler) Kıbrıs sorununa ilişkin tutumları arasında anlamlıfarklılıklar bulunmuştur.
