Abstract

Strength and other mechanical properties of portland cement concrete are modified by mixing chemical and mineral admixtures. Recently, steel fibers of various dimensions are also used as additives to improve some relevant concrete peculiarities. Steel-fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) applications have become widespread in such areas as slabs of industrial buildings, highway surface layers, tunnelling shells, concrete pipes, shotcretes, and directly in joints of reinforced-concrete frames, because of their positive effects on strength and toughness of the load-carrying elements. In this study, four concrete batches having 30, 40, 50, and 60 kg/m3 steel fiber amounts are produced, and six 15x30 cm cylindrical specimens are taken from each batch. A fifth concrete mixture of the same cement and aggregate ratios without any steel fibers are also produced from which six other samples are taken for comparison purposes. All the 60 cylindrical concrete specimens are moist-cured exactly for a 28-day period. After having mounted a standard compressometer to each cylindrical sample, the load-displacement behavior of each sample is carefully recorded during a standard loading experiment performed in a certified compression machine. Using the experimentally obtained load-displacement values, stress-strain relationships of all the 30 number of cylindrical samples taken out of five different concrete batches are determined. The ultimate compressive strengths, and tangent and secant moduli of elasticity of all the four-different steel-fiber dosage and no-steel-fiber concrete batches are calculated based on these stress-strain relationships. The experimentally determined strength and elasticity moduli values are given in a comparative way, which exhibit the effect of the dosage of steel fibers on these crucial concrete properties.

Özet

Beton malzemesinin dayanımı ve diğer mekanik özellikleri çeşitli katkı malzemeleri yardımıyla iyileştirilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Katkı malzemeleri olarak kimyasal maddelerin yanı sıra günümüzde çeşitli ebatlarda çelik lifler de kullanılmaktadır. Çelik lif katkılı betonlar son yıllarda karayollarında, tünel kaplamalarında, beton büz borularda ve betonarme çerçevelerde, beton dayanımına olan olumlu etkileri ve enerji yutma kapasitelerinin fazla olması nedeniyle yaygın olarak uygulama alanı bulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Dramix RC-80/60-BN tipi çelik lif katkılı silindir numuneler 30 kg/m3, 40 kg/m3, 50 kg/m3, 60 kg/m3 dozajlarında her bir gruptan 6 adet olmak üzere toplam 24 adet C 20 beton sınıfında imal edilmiştir. Ayrıca 6 adet çelik lif katkısız silindir numune kontrol amaçlı üretilmiştir. Numuneler uygun kür şartlarında bekletilerek 28 gün sonunda standart basınç deneyine tabi tutulmuştur. Deneyler sonucunda, çelik lif katkısız beton ile değişik dozajlardaki çelik lif katkılı beton numunelerinin basınç dayanımları, toklukları ve elastisite modülleri tayin edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda; çelik lif katkısız beton silindir numuneleri ile değişik dozajlardaki çelik lif katkılı beton silindir numunelerinin C 20 beton sınıfı için genel mekanik özelliklerinin karşılaştırılması yapılarak sunulmuştur.
