A review of using ozone for treatment of textile industry wastewater

Abstract

Using dyes in textile industry and discharge values of wastewaters unloaded to environment after dyeing were investigated based on various countries. The research results about ozone treatment of textile industrial effluents were discussed. The cost of various processes and effectiveness of these processes were examined. Unit treatment cost of ozonation process may vary between $0.2 to 0.6/m3 for a textile plant. Color removal ratio and COD value of wastewater at the end of the ozonation process were compared to those reported for other methods. The best results were observed when ozone and photocatalytic processes are applied together. On the other hand, international standards for color discharge values that are not compulsory in our country for the time being were discussed. It is expected that color removal in the wastewaters will be compulsory in Turkey in the near future.

Özet

Tekstil endüstrisinde kullanılan boyarmadde türleri ve boyama sonucunda çevreye verilen atıksuların deşarj sınır değerleri, çeşitli ülkeler baz alınarak tartışılmıştır. Tekstil endüstrisi atıksularının ozonla arıtımı ile ilgili araştırma sonuçları tartışılmıştır. Farklı yöntemlerin işlem maliyeti ve bu yöntemlerin etkinliği incelenmiştir. Bir tekstil fabrikası için ozonlama işleminin birim arıtma maliyeti metreküp başına 0.2-0.6 $ arasında değişmektedir. Ozonlama işlemi sonucu, renk giderme oranı ve KOİ değeri, diğer yöntemlerin sonuçları ile karşılaştırılmıştır. En iyi sonuçlar, ozonlama ile fotokataliz yöntemi birlikte kullanıldığında gözlenmiştir. Diğer yandan ülkemizde zorunlu olmamakla birlikte pek çok ülkede yasal olarak uygulanan renk parametresi tartışılmıştır. Yakın bir gelecekte Türkiye'de de renk gideriminin zorunlu olacağı beklenmektedir.
