Abstract

Objective: Suicidal behavior, defined as the ter- mination of one s own life, is a phe- nomenon of importance in terms of psychiatry, forensic medicine and public health as well as its economic, cultural, social and legal aspects. In this study, determining the sociocul- tural-demographic characteristics, factors causing suicide attempt and results of the attempts for the cases presented to the emergency depart- ment due to suicide attempt has been aimed. Methods: In the study, files of 245 cases pre- sented to the emergency depart- ment of Atatürk Training and Rese- arch Hospital due to suicide attempt between December 31, 2009 and January 1, 2011 were reviewed ret- rospectively. Özet

Amaç: Bireyin istemli olarak yaşamına son vermesi olarak tanımlanan intihar davranışı psikiyatri, adli tıp, halk sağ- lığı açısından önem taşıdığı kadar ekonomik, kültürel, toplumsal ve hu- kuki yönleri de olan bir olgudur. Bu çalışmada, acil servise intihar girişimi nedeniyle başvuran olgular için, sos- yokültürel-demografik özelliklerin, in- tihar girişimine neden olan etkenlerin ve girişim sonuçlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntemler: Çalışmada Atatürk Etiğim ve Araş- tırma Hastanesi Acil servisine 31.12.2009- 01.01.2011 tarihleri ara- sında intihar girişimi nedeniyle başvu- ran 245 olgunun dosyaları retrospektif olarak incelenmiştir. Verilerin anali- zinde istatistiksel yöntem olarak; ta- nımlayıcı istatistikler, Pearson ki-kare testi kullanılmıştır.
