Membranous tracheal rupture after endotracheal intubation

Abstract
Tracheal rupture is complication of endotracheal intubation. Overinflation of the tracheal cuff is speculated to be a frequent cause of tracheal rupture. Our patient sustained a laceration of the trachea with massive subcutaneous emhysema and pneumothorax after endotracheal intubation. The diagnosis of tracheal rupture was confirmed by rigid broncospcopy, the patient immediately underwent a right thoracotomy and tear of the membraneous trachea was sutured. The treatment and results are discussed and the recent literature is rewieved.
Özet
Trakea rüptürü endotrakeal entübasyonun nadir görülen bir komplikasyonudur. Trakeal cuff'ın fazla şişirilmesinin rüptürün en sık sebebi olduğu bildirilmektedir. Entübüsyondan sonra pnömotoraks ve yaygın ciltaltı amfizemi gelişen hastamızda trakea laserasyonundan şüphelenildi. Tanısı rijit bronkoskopiyle doğrulanarak sağ torakotomiyle membranöz trakeadaki rüptür sütüre edildi. Hastalığın tedavisi ve sonuçları son literatürler eşliğinde tartışıldı.
