In which phase of respiration should the chest tube be removed?

Abstract
Tube thoracostomy, which interests mainly thoracic surgeons and, in some hospitals, chest physicians and some other physicians, is an important application not only for insertion but also for removal with respect to appropriate technique and indications. Although there are many studies on the indications and insertion techniques of tube thoracostomy, information on its removal is quite insufficient. The aim of this review is to address literature data about the phase of respiration for removing chest tubes, and to emphasize the importance of this unresolved issue.

Tüp torakostomi, başta göğüs cerrahisi olmak üzere göğüs hastalıkları ve diğer bazı klinik dalları ilgilendiren, hem takılması hem de çekilmesi teknik ve endikasyonlar yönünden önem taşıyan bir işlemdir. Tüp torakostominin endikasyonları ve takılmasına ilişkin pek çok çalışma bulunmasına karşın, çekilme tekniğine ilişkin bilgiler çok azdır. Bu derlemede, göğüs tüpünün solunumun hangi fazında ve nasıl çekileceği konusunda literatürde yer alan kaynaklar incelenerek, henüz genel bir sonuca bağlanmamış bu konunun önemi vurgulandı.
