Malpositions of central venous catheter: three case reports

Abstract
The central venous catheter insertion is used for various indications in hospitalized patients. The most commonly used method for the insertion of the central venous catheter is the percutaneous access technique known as the Seldinger method. Although rarely seen, the advancement of the central venous catheter into a nontargeted vessel during insertion is a serious complication. The personnel performing the procedure should be experienced and the right technique should be used in order to decrease the complications in central venous catheterization.

Santral venöz kateter yerleştirilmesi hastanede yatan hastalarda değişik endikasyonlar için kullanılmaktadır. Santral venöz kateteri yerleştirmek için Seldinger yöntemi olarak bilinen perkütan giriş tekniği en yaygın olarak kullanılan yöntemdir. Santral venöz kateterin yerleştirme esnasında hedeflenmeyen damara ilerlemesi ender olarak görülmesine rağmen ciddi bir komplikasyondur. Santral venöz kateterizasyondaki komplikasyonların azaltılması için, uygulamayı yapan personelin deneyimli olması ve doğru tekniğin kullanılması gereklidir.
