Abstract

In this issue of the Turkish Journal of Thoracicand Cardiovascular Surgery, Dr. Nymbala presents anexcellent technical video on his version of the MICSCABG procedure.[1] This technique has been firstpopularized by Joe McGinn and Marc Ruel.[2]Dr. Nymbala’s technique can be offered to70% of all patients presenting for CABG. Usinga sternal sparing approach and through a 5 to7-cm mini-thoracotomy, he demonstrates in detailthe technical aspects of harvesting both internalmammary arteries for multi-arterial grafting onthe beating heart using a stabilizer and positioningdevice.
