Numbers in Old Turkic Inscriptions: A Semantic Approach

Abstract
In this article, the number words were analyzed on the basis of meaning in the word with examples selected from the old Turkic inscriptions. At the end of the study, it was determined that the number words witnessed from the inscriptions were not only seen in their basic meaning, but also had symbolic and metaphorical uses. With these uses of number words, it was aimed to show the literary value of the inscriptions from another perspective..
Özet
Bu makalede sayı sözcükleri eski Türk yazıtlarından seçilen örneklerle sözcükte anlam temelli incelendi. Çalışma sonunda yazıtlarda tanıklanan sayı sözcüklerinin sadece temel anlamıyla görülmediği, sembolik ve metaforik kullanımlarının da olduğu tespit edildi. Sayı sözcüklerinin bu kullanımlarıyla birlikte yazıtların edebî değerinin başka bir açıdan gösterilmesi amaçlandı.
