The signing process of the Armistice of Mudros According to Ottoman Archive Documents

Abstract

Mudros Armistice is one of the four armistices that end the World War I. It occurred between the Ottoman Empire and the British Empire as she was the representative of Allied Powers. Before an agreement was reached, Ottoman and British committees have discussed the terms of the armistice for four days between 27 October and 30 October. This paper focuses on the negotiations and the discussions about the terms of the armistice. Main sources of this research are the telegrams from the Ottoman Archives. Besides, memoirs from the Ottoman delegates compared with the telegrams to make a comparison.

Özet

Birinci Dünya Savaşı‘na son veren ateşkes anlaşmalarından biri olan Mondros Ateşkes Antlaşması, Osmanlı Devleti ile İtilaf Devletleri‘ni temsilen İngiltere arasında imzalanmıştır. Bu ateşkesin imzalanmasından önce, Osmanlı Devleti‘nden bir heyet ile İtilaf Devletlerini temsilen İngiltere‘den bir heyet 27 Ekim‘den mütarekenin imzalandığı 30 Ekim‘e kadar görüşmeler yapmıştır. Bu çalışmada dört günlük süre boyunca heyetler arasında ateşkes anlaşmasının maddeleri ile ilgili yaşanan tartışmalar incelenmiştir. İnceleme sırasında ana kaynak olarak Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi‘nde bulunan telgraflar kullanılmış, ayrıca bizzat mütareke görüşmelerine tanıklık edenlerin hatıraları da bu telgraflarla karşılaştırılmıştır.
