Expectations of Students From Hospital to Increase Their Clinical Motivation

Abstract

Objective: The study aims to determine the expectations of students from the hospital in order to increase their clinical motivation. Method: The universe of this descriptive study consisted of the first, second, third, and fourth grade students who were educating at the Faculty of Nursing of Atatürk University. The study sample consisted of 429 junior and senior students, who were randomly selected from two branches of all grades and agreed to participate in the research. The study data were collected between May 15 and May 31, 2019. A questionnaire was used for the research. Results: Of the students, 78,1% was female, 31,7% was junior, and 20,3% was senior student. Of students, 49% wants to work at a hos pital. The expectation of the most students (85,3%), regarding the lectu rers in clinical practice was “to be insightful”. It was found that the expectation of most of the junior students (85,3%) was “having in sightful lecturers” regarding the lecturers in clinical practice, whe reas the expectations of the senior students towards clinical nurses was “to be treated like colleagues” (87,3%). A significant difference was found between gender and the expectation of students to be be haved like colleagues by clinical nurses (p<0,05). Conclusion: All the students were found to have expectations towar ds the clinic. Improvements can be made in this regard.

Amaç: Öğrencilerin klinik motivasyonlarının artması için hastane den beklentilerinin belirlenmesidir. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki araştırmanın evrenini, Atatürk üni versitenin hemşirelik fakültesi’nde öğrenim gören birinci, ikinci, üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemini ise 1. 2. 3. ve 4. sınıftan iki şube rastgele seçilerek ulaşılan ve araş tırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 429 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri 15 Mayıs-31 Mayıs 2019 tarihlerinde toplanmıştır. Araştır ma için “Soru Formu” kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin %78,1’in cinsiyeti kız, %31,7’si 1. sınıf, %20,3’ü ise 4. sınıf öğrencisidir. Öğrencilerin %49’u hastanede ça lışmak istemektedir. Klinik uygulamadaki öğretmenlere yönelik öğrencilerin çoğunun (%85,3) beklentisi “anlayışlı davranma” yönündedir. Birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin çoğunun beklentisi (%85,3) klinik uygulamadaki öğ retmenlere yönelik “anlayışlı davranma” iken, son sınıf öğrencile rinin ise (%87,3) klinik hemşirelere yönelik “meslektaşı gibi dav ranılması” olarak belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin klinik hemşirelerden meslektaşı gibi davranma beklentisi ile cinsiyet arasında anlamlı fark bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Sonuç: Öğrencilerin hepsinin kliniğe yönelik beklentileri olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu konuda iyileştirme çalışmaları yapılabilir.
