The analysis of music teachers' attitudes towards teaching music for students who need special education

Abstract
This research, in which is targeted to identify the attitude against students, who need private education and against to musical education was carried out with 80 music teachers who work in private education and work application centers and special vocational training centers. Survey model from descriptive researches was used in the paper. As a result of the research, it is stated that the majority of the teachers didn’t study in a special education courses during the undergraduate period; they didn’t know how to measure the success level of students, when they were assigned to special education schools, they experienced the most fear and anxiety, and after a while they changed their thoughts, the coursework studied during university years generally doesn’t work while they were educating students who need special education; however, they have a high-level attitude, what is more, they suggested their new colleagues to be patient and hardworking.
Özet
Müzik öğretmenlerinin özel eğitime ihtiyacı olan öğrencilere ve müzik eğitimine yönelik tutumlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanan bu araştırma, Türkiye’deki özel eğitim uygulama ve iş uygulama merkezleri ile özel eğitim mesleki eğitim merkezlerinde görev yapan 80 müzik öğretmeni ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada, betimsel araştırmalardan tarama (survey) modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, öğretmenlerin çoğunluğunun lisans döneminde özel eğitim dersi almadığı, öğrencilerin başarılarını nasıl ölçeceğini bilmediği, özel eğitim okullarına atandıklarında en çok korku, kaygı gibi olumsuzluklar yaşayıp sonra bu düşüncelerinin değiştiği, özel eğitime ihtiyacı olan öğrencilere eğitim verirken konu ile ilgili lisans döneminde almış oldukları dersin pek de faydalı olmadığı fakat genel tutum düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu ayrıca özel eğitim öğrencileriyle çalışırken sabırlı ve azimli olunması gerektiği yönünde yeni atanacak olan öğretmenlere öneriler verdikleri sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.
