A Qualitative Study On the Process of Religious Life and Religious Coping of the Women Who Had IVF Treatment

TÜP BEBEK TEDAVİSİ ALMIŞ KADINLARIN DİNÎ BAŞA ÇIKMA SÜREÇLERİ VE DİNÎ YAŞANTILARI ÜZERİNE NİTEL BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Abstract

The aim of study is to find out the women’s process of religious coping and activities for handling with difficulties in IVF treatment. The subject of article which includes a qualitative study on women under IVF treatment is religious/spiritual life of the women in this process and if their God imagination is affected by this or not. The data has been collected via interview method through half-structured form. Criterion sampling method is used with the snowball method from the models of oriented sample additional to the condition of IVF treatment for 3 times. The sample consists of 12 women in Istanbul. According to the findings, it is seen that the women who had IVF treatment to have a baby, see this situation as a test by God, and they use the positive and negative activities of religious coping. It is seen that frequency of prayers and salah and search for meaning to question the life increase. While the ones who use positive religious coping put forward the name of “Mercy” for imagination of God, the ones who are in negative religious coping put forward “Strenght/Power” concept.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, kadınların tüp bebek tedavisi sürecinde yaşadıkları zorluklarda dinî başa çıkma sürecini ve kullandıkları dinî başa çıkma yöntemlerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Ayrıca makale, bu süreçte kadınların dinî/manevî eğilimlerini, yaşantılarını ve Allah tasavvurlarının da bundan etkilenip etkilenmediğini de konu edinmektedir. Nitel bir araştırmayı içeren makalede veriler, mülakat yöntemine uygun olarak, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formuyla toplanmıştır. Amaçlı örneklem modellerinden kartopu yöntemi ve buna ilaveten üç kez tüp bebek tedavisi görmüş olma şartı eklenerek ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Buna göre örneklem, İstanbul’da yaşayan on iki kadından oluşmuştur. Araştırma bulgularına göre, tüp bebek tedavisi gören kadınlar, yaşadıkları durumu Allah’ın bir imtihanı olarak görmektedir ve hem olumlu hem de olumsuz dinî başa çıkma etkinliklerini kullanmaktadırlar. Bu süreçte dua etme ve namaz kılma sıklıklarının ve hayatı sorgulamaya dair anlam arayışlarının arttığı, olumlu dinî başa çıkma kullananların Allah tasavvurlarında “merhamet” ismini öne çıkarırken, olumsuz dinî başa çıkma içerisinde olanların daha çok “kudret/güç” tasavvurunu öne çıkardıkları görülmüştür.
