Abstract
The prevalance of Helicobacter (H. pylori) was investigated in 80 patients with different degrees of renal function; group I (normal renal function) n:40, group II (chronic renal failure) n: 20, group II (haemodialysis) n:20. All of the patients had upper gastrointestinal symp¬toms. The prevalance ofH. pylori was determined using ELISA technique for IgG antibodies to H. pylori, rapid urease test and Toluidine blue staining method. 72.5% (29/40) of the normal renal function group, 75% (15/20) of the chronic renal failure group and 60% (12/20) of the haemodialysis group were positive H. pylori infection, and the prevalance did not significantly differ statisti¬cally between these three groups (p>0.05). In conclusion a high blood urea level does not seem to be a risk factor, per se, for acquiring H. pylori.
Özet
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) prevalansı renal fonksiyon dereceleri farklı 80 olguda araştırıldı; Grup I (normal renal fonksiyonlu) n: 40, grup II (kronik böbrek yetmezliği - dializ tedavisi görmeyen) n: 20, grup III (hemodializ) n:20 olarak olgular gruplandırıldı.
