Abstract
Hepatolithiasis is defined as the presence of stones in the right and/or left hepatic ducts and/or their tributaries irrespective of the coexistence of choledocholithiasis and/or cholecystolithiasis. It has been emphasized that the incidence of hepatholithiasis varies in different parts of the world, but it is common in East Asia, where the incidence has been reported to be 20-31% of all patients undergoing surgery for gallbladder disease. Ethnic and environmental factors are thought to be possible responsible factors for the high incidence of hepatolithiasis in this region. In this study, a case with hepatolithiasis is presented and a review of the literature undertaken.
