The Evaluation of Istanbul’s Urban Teksture through Postage Stamps

Abstract
The research aims to introduce Istanbul, which has a deep-rooted and historical past and was the capital of three different empires, through philatelic objects in a different style. The physical losses on immovable cultural assets caused by the changes in modernization and urban sociology revealed the necessity of the study. The ancient city, which hosts sea and land cultures together, witnesses the historical accumulation of both Turks and Europeans living in this geography. In this context, walls, waterways, obelisks, bridges, places of worship, castles, lighthouses, towers, train stations, mansions, mansions, mansions, bazaars, museums, fountains, palaces, nostalgic trams and cisterns, which has become the symbol of the city and describes the urban experience, are processed together with the sociological texture of the city in order to create a thematic synthesis. The fiction, created to reinterpret the concept of promotion and tourism on a cultural axis, includes the idea of raising awareness for the preservation of existing artifacts. It is also thought that besides contributing to the promotion of the city, the study job would help researchers develop their visual thinking skills.
Özet
Bu araştırma, köklü ve tarihsel bir birikime sahip olan ve aynı zamanda üç farklı imparatorluğa başkentlik yapmış olan İstanbul’u filateli nesneleri üzerinden farklı bir üslupla tanıtmak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Modernleşme ve kent sosyolojisindeki değişimlerin taşınmaz kültür varlıkları üzerinde oluşturduğu fiziki kayıplar, çalışmanın gerekliliğini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Deniz ve kara kültürünü bir arada barındıran kadim kent hem Türklerin hem de bu coğrafyada yaşamış olan Avrupalıların tarihi birikimine tanıklık yapmaktadır. Bu kapsamda, kentin simgesi haline gelen ve kente dair yaşanmışlığı betimleyen; surlar, suyolları, dikilitaşlar, köprüler, ibadethaneler, hisarlar, deniz fenerleri, kuleler, tren garları, kasırlar, köşkler, yalılar, çarşılar, müzeler, çeşmeler, saraylar, nostaljik tramvaylar ve sarnıçlar kentin sosyolojik dokusuyla birlikte işlenerek tematik bir sentez oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır. Tanıtım ve turizm yönlü kavrayışı, kültürel eksende yeniden yorumlamak üzerine oluşturulan kurguda, mevcut eserlerin korunması adına farkındalık oluşturma fikri yer almaktadır. Kentin tanıtımına katkı sunmayı hedefleyen bu çalışma, aynı zamanda benzer konularda çalışmalar yapan diğer araştırmacıların görsel düşünme becerilerini geliştirmelerine de yardımcı olacak niteliktedir.
