Abstract
In some provinces of North-east Anatolia, 28 cattle and 32 sheep with icterus were etiologically (for blood protozoa and leptospirosis) and pathologically investigated between 1995 and 1996. lt was found that 27.75% of cattle and 62.5% of sheep were infected with Babesia spp. and 2.27% of cattle were also infected with Theileria spp. Leptospira-like spirokets were seen in sections of kidney, stained with Levaditi-Manovelian method, in 9.37% of sheep and 14.28% of cattle. Necrosis, central apopitosis, lymphoid cells infiltration in porta! tract and bile obstruction in liver; paranehim degeneration ant focal interstitial nephritis in kidneys; follicular hyperplasie and/or necrosis of lymphocytes in spleens were histopatologically determined.
