A venous catheter complication: Venous perforation and lung ınjury

Abstract

Central venous catheters are frequently being used for different causes like liquid infusions, hemodialysis and measurement of central venous pressure. Because of the complications which occur at the time or after the placement of these catheters can give harm to the patient or can cause another need for a new attempt. Complications like malfunction of the catheter, arterial puncture, hemothorax or pneumothorax can be seen at the 5-26% of the patients and early detection is very important. We want to present a ven perforation and lung injury case according to the catheter based upon literature.

Özet

Santral venöz kateterler sıvı infüzyonu, hemodiyaliz ve santral venöz basınç ölçümü gibi değişik nedenlerle çok sık kullanılmaktadır. Ancak bu kateterlerin yerleştirilmesi veya sonrasında gelişen komplikasyonlar nedeniyle hastaya zarar verilebilmekte veya ek girişim yapılmasına neden olunabilmektedir. Kateterde fonksiyon bozukluğu, arter ponksiyonu, hemotoraks veya pnömotoraks gibi çeşitli komplikasyonlar hastaların %5-26sında görülebilir ve erken tanısı hayati öneme sahiptir. Biz burada katetere bağlı ven perforasyonu ve akciğer hasarı gelişen bir olguyu literatür eşliğinde sunmak istiyoruz.
